WSC4 Hybrid Day – Connecting Global Seabird Researchers

Registration provides access to the full conference experience, including recordings of all sessions from 7–10 September 2026, as well as a dedicated live-streamed Hybrid Day on Friday, 11 September 2026.

This approach ensures that participants can engage with the complete programme, regardless of their location or time zone.

Virtual registration includes a range of presentation formats:

  • Live virtual presentations
  • Pre-recorded talks
  • On-demand access to all recorded sessions

In addition, the Hybrid Day will feature poster sessions, networking opportunities, and dedicated activities for early-career researchers.

About the Hybrid Day Friday, 11 September 2026

The Hybrid Day will take place on Friday, 11 September 2026 (Hobart, Tasmania – AEST). Developed in partnership with the Pacific Seabird Group, the programme is designed to connect in-person and virtual participants in real time.

Hybrid Day Schedule

All sessions will follow Hobart time (AEST). For many international participants, this corresponds to Thursday, 10 September 2026.

The schedule has been designed to support global participation:

  • Thursday, 10 September: North, Central, and South America
  • Friday, 11 September: Australia, New Zealand, and East Asia
  • Late evening / early morning (10–11 September): Europe and Africa

By combining digital and in-person elements, the Hybrid Day maximises accessibility, supports international collaboration, and provides a platform for seabird researchers worldwide to share their work.

For further details on sessions, registration, and participation, please visit the FAQ page.

Hybrid Day Programme

The programme will include a combination of live and pre-recorded virtual presentations. Presenters may choose to deliver their talks live via the conference platform or submit a pre-recorded version.

All sessions will be recorded and made available on demand, enabling participants across time zones to engage fully with the content.

Virtual Poster Session and Digital Integration

Posters will be hosted in a virtual poster hall within the conference app.

During the in-person poster sessions in Hobart, QR codes will link directly to the digital posters, creating an integrated experience and enabling interaction between authors and participants regardless of location.

Global Networking Opportunities

The Hybrid Day will include dedicated virtual networking spaces within the conference platform. These will enable delegates worldwide to connect, exchange ideas, and establish collaborations.

Further details on networking formats will be shared closer to the conference.

Recognition for Early-Career Researchers

WSC4 is committed to supporting the next generation of seabird scientists. The Hybrid Day will include dedicated student awards for virtual presentations, ensuring that early-career researchers are recognised across both virtual and in-person formats.
